The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has developed a major road intersection at a cost of Dh1.2 million in the emirate.
The development of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan Bu Alian project has been completed ahead of schedule, said Dr Eng Mohsin Balwan, director of road maintenance, SRTA.
He added: "The new intersection is one of the most important infrastructure projects in the emirate which is expected to boost the economic growth here and meet the needs of the residents."
It is one of the many intersections developed in the Sharjah city to ensure smooth traffic flow as well, he pointed out.
"The developed intersection lies in Al Ramlah and Al Mansura areas on one side and Al Jazat and Al Hazana areas on the other side."
The old concrete road barriers have been removed, and new pavement blocks and tiles installed, Dr Balwan said.
"The traffic lights have been repositioned and new ones put up to ensure maximum safety for all road users."
Late in January this year, Sharjah RTA developed a major road extending from Intersection-5 to Al Rahmaniya area for Dh28 million.
"Sharjah RTA is working on a comprehensive plan to develop the entire road network in the emirate, apart from its regular maintenance as per the latest international standards," the SRTA official said.
"We are more than ready to respond to customers' feedbacks and complaints."
Sharjah Roads and Customers Call Centre is reachable 24/7 at 600525252, he said. "Our staff attendants are prepared to address all feedbacks, enquiries, remarks and complaints."
