Police warn against breaking this driving rule in UAE

Abu Dhabi - Motorists will also be fined for their negligence.

Motorists should take their vehicles for regular inspections and maintenance, according to a recent post by Abu Dhabi police.
The post reads: "Dear driver, ensure your vehicle is regularly maintained and your tires are checked before travelling."
According to statistics released by the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols in the central operations sector of Abu Dhabi Police, 17 accidents took place due to expired tyre rims in 2017.
In all, 4 people were killed, 3 sustained major injuries, and twenty suffered intermediate wounds.
Police issued tickets to 28,727 motorists for expired or worn tyre rims.
They were also fined Dh500, given four black points, and had their vehicles impounded for a week.
According to Brigadier Khalifa Mohammed Al Khaili, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations Sector, most tyre rims explode due to insufficient pressure, excess weight, and wear and tear due to long distance travel.
Those who travel by land should be sure to use the proper size and shape of tyre rims, allow for temperature variants and have proper weight qualifications, the date of production, and their suitability for long journeys.
Traffic patrols will monitor such violations in order to prevent tyres from exploding and causing preventable accidents.
