Sharjah - A vehicle that makes a noise exceeding 95 decibels will be fined Dh2,000 and 12 black points.

Sharjah Police has launched a noise detecting radar which can pick up vehicle sounds. This project comes in response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The launch of the device is in line with the directions of the Ministry of Interior to increase safety on the roads and provide security and comfort to the public.
Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, launched the noise control device in the presence of Lt.-Col. Mohammed Alai Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrol Department, Colonel Rashid Al Fardan, Head of Traffic Engineering Department and a number of Sharjah Police officers.
The device will be distributed in various residential areas. It was developed by officers, personnel, and staff of Sharjah Police General Directorate at a laboratory belonging to the Traffic and Patrols Department.

Major General Al Shamsi said that he hopes this device helps in reducing noise violations and accidents caused by reckless driving in the emirate.
Lt. Col. Al Naqbi pointed out that the device detects noise components through a precise video and audio technology while determining the percentage of sound issued from vehicles. It operates with solar technology which sends a signal alarm to the operating room if more than one vehicle is causing noise on the same road. The device also contains security surveillance cameras.
Al Naqbi noted that any vehicle that makes a noise exceeding 95 decibels will be fined Dh2,000 and 12 black points. The vehicle may also be seized for six months.
He pointed out that the launch of these devices comes within the framework of the Sharjah Police General Directorate to achieve benchmarks of the National Agenda 2021 in the field of traffic and reduce accidents by implementing traffic control.
