The Abu Dhabi Police will be implementing new rules for the registration of articulated lorries from September 1, 2018.
The step aims to develop the logistics sector and make it more efficient. It also aims to improve public safety and boost the competitiveness of the Capital.
The registration for articulated trucks will be valid for one year and will cost Dh120. A fee of Dh150 is also required for the technical test. Owners who want to use their articulated trucks in Abu Dhabi, but are registered in another emirate must undergo a technical test.
Colonel Saif Al Zaabi, Director of the Vehicle Licensing Department at the Central Operations Sector of the Abu Dhabi police, said that the Traffic and Patrols Department will be issuing permits, which will allow trucks to use two trailers at pre-approved routes.
He pointed out that the articulated truck must not exceed 35 meters in length and 2.9 m in width. They also must be fitted with an anti-lock braking system (ABS). The trailer truck must also meet the safety standards and technical specifications set by the Abu Dhabi's Department of Transport (DoT), he added.
Col. Al Zaabi called upon owners of articulated trucks to access the DoT website to for more information about the new measures.
