To ease traffic flow and enhance road safety, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Sharjah has developed a new road in the central region at a cost of Dh57 million.
Extending from Mahafez area to Faya area, it has been developed as a separate two-way road, according to Eng. Yusuf Saleh Al Suwaihi, chairman of RTA Sharjah.
"The project is part of the authority's comprehensive plan to develop all parts and regions of the emirate."
The road extends over a total area of 14.8km. "The cost of construction and development works stands at Dh57 million."
The arterial road, having two lanes in each direction, is 7.3m wide, with a 7.6m middle road island, as well as two 2.5m asphalt head shoulders in each direction, Al Suwaihi added.
"These are apart from the construction of four intersecting squares along the road, and the expansion of the small rain bridges."
RTA Sharjah has finished all the earmarked service works, and built a rainwater drainage network, he elaborated. "We have also installed lamp posts on both sides of the road."
Al Suwaihi underlined that the ongoing and planned maintenance and development works will help ease the daily transport hassles and improve the existing roads for the benefit and safety of road users.
"These critical works will also enhance the image of Sharjah, considering the fact that the authority has already repaired all the major roads of the emirate."
He said that RTA Sharjah is more than ready to respond to customers' feedbacks and complaints.
"RTA Sharjah call centre is reachable 24/7 at 600525252 for feedbacks, enquiries, remarks and complaints."
