Four new air-conditioned bus shelters have been set up in Al Ain city, authorities announced on Wednesday. According to the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in Abu Dhabi, 20 more shelters will come up this year.
Hamad Bin Rakkad Al Amri, ITC Manager in Al Ain, noted that public transport services witnessed an increasing demand, with 6.7 million passengers using 132 buses in the first half of 2019. "I am hopeful that the establishment of the AC bus shelters will even attract more people to use public buses."

The shelters have been set up on the Zayed bin Sultan Street 137, Oud Al Touba, Hamdan bin Mohammed Street 127 and the Municipality Street 124. The capacity of each shelter is 28 passengers. Last year, the Department of Transport (DoT) announced that 600 new bus stop shelters would be put up across Abu Dhabi.
