The Traffic Court in Ras Al Khaimah has ordered a 27-year-old Arab mother to pay a fine of Dh1,500 for ignoring the lane rule while driving, which led to a collision and caused injuries to her five children and the maid.
The court also issued a stern warning to the 17-year-old boy who was driving the other car without a licence at a speed beyond the prescribed limit. The registration card of the minor's car had also expired.
As per the sheet of indictment, the mother was driving on the right lane, then she swerved to the left one, and suddenly returned to the left lane. Due to the sudden changing of lines, the minor driver could not avoid ramming his vehicle into her car.
Both drivers lost control over the steering wheel due to the impact of the collision. The cars veered off the road, flipped over multiple times, and the woman, her five kids, and the maid were injured. The minor driver was also hurt. Both the vehicles were damaged in the road crash.
The defence lawyer requested the court to pardon his minor client, essentially because the mother and her children and the maid had withdrawn the complaint against him. The husband had also dropped his right to sue his wife for causing injury to his kids.
