Honesty is the best policy and a father in UAE went the extra mile to prove that the adage still stands true.
Recently, an Emirati father made sure that his daughter was rightfully penalised for a traffic violation after the police got her number plate wrong.
The Ajman-based Ali Al Thahiry went to to the General Directorate of Sharjah Police to 'correct' a traffic fine - for a violation made by his daughter, which was mistakenly recorded to a vehicle with a different number plate, Al Ittihad reported.
His daughter made the the violation on a main road, blocking traffic. But a different motorist was instead penalised.
Making sure that an innocent person wasn't penalised and fined, the honest father went to the station to correct the mistake.
Lt. Colonel Abdullah Alai Al Naqbi, Chief of the Comprehensive Industrial Police Station at the General Directorate of Sharjah Police, applauded the man's honest gesture.
Al Thahiry said that his daughter told him that she had committed the 'mistake' in Sharjah's Muwaileh area.
He found the incorrect number plate on the fine, and asked the police to correct it by replacing it with his daughter's number plate.
