Residents should be aware that radical car modification of an audio or visual nature is considered illegal under the UAE's current transport law.
The Federal Traffic Law No 178 of 2017, states that noise-inducing vehicles found in violation will be fined Dh2,000 and 12 black points.
Dh1,000 fine and 6 black points will be incurred for driving a car that pollutes the environment.
Those who drive in excess of stipulated speed limits above 80km/h will incur a Dh3,000 fine, 23 black points, and 60 days of impoundment.
Colonel Faisal Al Qassem, director of security information at Dubai Police, also warned that if the vehicle owner obtains a modification permit, these can only be used in the emirate of Dubai so long as they do not disturb residents. The exemption does not apply in other emirates.
"Fines will be incurred if the vehicle is modified in a way that disturbs others," he said.
Car modification regulations are in place and must be adhered to for safety and security purposes.
