The reckless motorist who drove the vehicle that crashed and caught fire in Ajman two days ago has been arrested and referred to the public prosecution, along with his companion, police said. Both the young driver and his passenger suffered burns during the accident.
Maj-Gen Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, said they had confirmed that the Arab motorist was driving the car at high speed when he lost control over it. The vehicle then hit the sidewalk, flipped, and caught fire.
He said they had nabbed the two men who were seen climbing out of the vehicle in the video that went viral on social media.

"The police will not tolerate anyone who endanger people's lives on the roads. We will implement all necessary measures to keep everyone safe and curb reckless driving," Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi said.
Authorities will seize the vehicles of those caught speeding on the streets, especially in residential neighbourhoods, he added.
The top official also warned the public against publishing video clips of accidents. He said sharing such videos is a violation of others' privacy and could create chaos and confusion online, Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi said. This could be a punishable offence.
