Motorists in Sharjah were surprised when they were stopped by the police on the roads. They weren't asked about their driving licence but were issued a yellow card.
As part of their two-week awareness campaign to promote the use of seat belts, Sharjah Police has initiated a move to thank those who buckle up.
Drivers who had their seatbelts on were given the yellow card with a large "Thank You" written on it.
The card reads: "Thank you for wearing your seatbelt. You have helped raise safety levels on the road as a result of your dedication."
They also posted a new video reinforcing their commitment to the new seat belt campaign launched last week.

Called 'Hezamak Amanak' (Your belt, your safety), the new campaign saw the authorities distribute brochures in several languages, reminding motorists to fasten their seat belts.
One motorist posted the jaunty yellow card on Twitter with the message, "Thank you, you are the foundation and we will assist you in achieving this goal. #Hezamak_Amanak".
Drivers failing to fasten their seat belts are fined Dh400 and four black points while a Dh400 fine applies to the passengers, according to the law.
