Traffic alert: Multiple accidents cause delay on Dubai, Abu Dhabi roads

Dubai - Motorists urged to take caution and take alternative routes wherever possible.

Morning rush coupled with accidents have caused delays for motorists travelling from Sharjah to Dubai on Sunday morning.

Dubai Police reported an accident through their official Twitter handle. "An accident has been reported on Academic City Road from Al Warqaa roundabout towards Al Khawaneej roundabout," the tweet read. They advised motorists to take caution and take alternative routes.

 
Two accidents were also reported on D83 Umm Ramool Road near Rabat Street causing heavy traffic delays, according to Google Maps.

Meanwhile, two new bridges to decongest traffic heading towards Karama were opened on Saturday.
The first bridge on Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street comprises two lanes in each direction, and the second is one-lane bridge stretching from Zabeel Street towards Sheikh Rashid Street.
The opening of the bridges will ease traffic movement heading to Karama, and the World Trade Center junction in the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road, the RTA pointed out. The tunnel is expected to be opened in both directions (Al Garhoud and Mina Rashid) in Q2 of 2018.
According to Google Maps data, Dubai road is in the red with rush hour congestion levels. Areas in Dubai experiencing congestion include:
E44 Al Awir road from Al Warqa to Ras Al Khor
E44 Ras Al Khor Industrial Area towards Al Khail Road
E77 Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road near Dubai Investments Park
E311 Dubai- Al Ain Road near Silicon Oasis
Tailbacks were reported with heavy congestion on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from the National Paints roundabout in Sharjah to Dubai. Delays were also observed on Sheikh Zayed Road's E11 - from Al Nahda street  towards Dubai.

Meanwhile in the capital, the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport took to Twitter to report an accident on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street at Shakhbout bin Sultan Street inbound. Right lane has been blocked so look for alternative routes.
Motorist also faced heavy delays on E10 road from Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street on the Mangrove underpass heading towards the city.

Motorists are advised to drive safely and take alternative routes wherever possible.
