More motorists in Sharjah have been reporting minor traffic accidents via smart app, recent statistics show. Out of around 6,000 accidents in August, more than a thousand were reported through the Rafid Accident Unit application, showing a 20 per cent increase in usage.
Through the app, drivers can easily take a photo of their vehicles and directly send the accident reports from their smartphones. Their licence and plate numbers can quickly be uploaded, simplifying the entire procedure.
App users also get to avail of Rafid's roadside assistance services, such as re-fuelling, tyre and battery replacement, breakdown assistance and transportation. Rafid also offers auto-express services.
Abdelrahman Alshamsi, accident unit and RSA manager at Rafid Automotive Solutions, said the jump in the app download rate is a success for the service provider, which seeks to develop digital solutions for its operations.
The intiative falls in line with Sharjah's vision to transform the emirate into a smart, innovative city.
