Toomaj Salehi risks being hanged after the conviction on the Shariah charge of "corruption on Earth" by a Revolutionary Court
This one is certainly one for your bucket list: A pink lake in the UAE.
Photos of a pink-coloured lake is going viral on social media after an Emirati teen discovered it in Ras Al Khaimah.
The 19-year-old Emirati photographer, Ammar Al Farsi from Sharjah, took photos of the beautiful lake located in Al Saraya Island north of Ras Al Khaimah. According to Al Khaleej daily, the size of the lake is 40 metres long and 10 metres wide.
The island is just 100 metres away off the coast.
Dr Saif Al Ghais, director-general of the Environment Protection and Development Authority (EPDA), said the lake’s pink colour could be attributed to the presence of red algae usually found in such water bodies.
He added that the authority cannot conclusively explain the colour of the lake till it studies some samples from it.
