Over 1,000 UAE residents get patch-up tips to save marriage

Abu Dhabi - The programme was launched by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) to help families and couples resolve their conflicts.

More than 1,000 residents in Abu Dhabi were educated on how to settle family disputes amicably and overcome discords they face to avoid divorce.

The educational initiative was conducted through virtual counselling sessions and interactive training workshops organised by the Family Guidance Section over the past two months as part of the ‘Reconciliation is Better’ programme. The programme was launched by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) to help families and couples resolve their conflicts and surmount the difficulties they may face in innovative ways and through means that help reduce the number of divorce cases in the emirate.

Youssef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the ADJD, said the ‘Reconciliation is Better’ initiative aims to educate disputing families on how to iron out the differences. “The initiative intends to ensure social cohesion starting from the family as the nucleus of society and the basis for its development, so as to ensure the continuation of the process of development and prosperity of the UAE,” he pointed out.

“This programme has developed innovative mechanisms to enable families to resolve disputes through intensive family counselling sessions by dedicated social, psychological and legal mentors. Apart from this, it focuses on organising interactive and multimedia exercises to acquire skills that reduce marital conflicts and a follow-up plan to ensure compliance with reconciliation agreements and eliminate any obstacles.”

The Family Guidance Section explores the causes of marital rift and suggests the necessary remedies that take into account the changes that the family is going through in order to enable it to solve any problem it may face in the future. The programme also offers a follow-up plan for couples to verify how compliant they were with the agreement they have concluded in the event of reconciliation, and to try to remove any barriers that might arise during the enforcement.
