Emiratis holding diplomatic, special and ordinary passports have been exempted from pre-entry visas to visit the Solomon Islands.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced that the visa waiver became effective as of November 19, 2017, with UAE citizens travelling to the Solomon Islands able to stay for a period of up to 90 days.
Ahmed Al Dhaheri, Assistant Under-Secretary for Consular Affairs at the Ministry, said that the visa waiver decision was in line with the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, signed between the UAE and the Solomon Islands during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Solomon Islands, Milner Tozaka, to attend the International Participants Meeting, IPM, of Expo 2020 Dubai last October.
He said that signing of the MoU for visa exemption with the Pacific countries, including the Solomon Islands, offered UAE citizens the opportunity to travel easily, reflecting the development of relations with the Solomon Islands.
It also demonstrates the growing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries across various sectors, including tourism, investment and trade and others and enhances cooperation between the UAE and Solomon Islands.
Al Dhaheri highlighted that the ministry seeks to enhance its diplomatic efforts to attain the wise leadership's strategic objective of providing UAE citizens with distinguished services that ensure their comfort and happiness.
