The 'Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Global Humanitarian Campaign' began in Kathor, Las Bela, Balochistan, Pakistan, Wam reported on Monday.
The campaign aims to treat children, women and elderly people, under the slogan, "We are all Mother Fatima," as the first specialist initiative of its kind that will provide the best diagnostic, treatment, preventive and surgical services to poor people, under the supervision of volunteer doctors from the UAE and Pakistan working in a field hospital and mobile clinics equipped with the best medical equipment.
The launch of the campaign is in line with the humanitarian values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF).
Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the GWU, said that the campaign's current phase has succeeded in attracting the best volunteer doctors from the UAE and Pakistan who are serving the poor through the field hospital, coinciding with the leadership's declaration that 2019 will be the Year of Tolerance and in line with the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed.
She added that the mission aims to reach out to 16 million children, women and elderly people around the world and provide them with free treatment, under the framework of the "Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Volunteering Programme" and a joint initiative between the Zayed Giving Initiative, the GWU, the Dar Al Ber Society, Sharjah Charity House and the Saudi-German Hospitals Group.
She further added that the campaign and the Sheikha Fatima Hospital are working in Pakistan in partnership with the Eyes Bank Hospital and the Pakistani Medical Association, in coordination with the UAE Embassy.
During the inauguration of the hospital, Pakistani officials praised the aid provided by the UAE while officials from the campaign conducted a presentation on the UAE's medical, humanitarian and development projects in Pakistan.
