The building in Muhaisnah 4 had suffered structural damage last week and has been sealed off as authorities conduct investigations
According to a decree issued by Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, absconding reports of workers filed before July 31 will be cancelled. This applies to absconding workers who are currently residing in the country.
Additionally, the ministry will cancel the existing work permits of the workers concerned when they opt for the amnesty that runs from August 1 to October 31. The ministry will also issue new work permits to them if they manage to secure a new job (Looking for a job in UAE? Start your search here). This effectively revokes the ban on issuing work permits to absconding workers after they correct their status.
However, the initiative does not cover workers who have violated employment rules as specified in their contracts.
Under the initiative, establishments will be exempted from all fines resulting from workers violating job contracts after they rectify their status.
