UAE leaders have paid rich tributes to Emirati soldiers serving in the Saudi-led coalition's Operation Restoring Hope mission to reinstate Yemen's legitimate government.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, hailed the men in uniform as "the sons of the homeland" and "the protectors of the union".

"Greetings to the sons of the homeland returning from Yemen. They participated in a mission along with their brothers in the coalition to restore hope and consolidate the security of the region. They have contributed to humanitarian work in 22 governorates that benefited millions of families. They also contributed to building major development projects in Yemen. Welcome to the homeland, you protectors of the Union," Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.
Lauding the contribution of the UAE soldiers, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, tweeted: "Tomorrow is an exceptionally proud day for the UAE as we celebrate and honour our heroes for their participation in the Arab coalition in Yemen. On behalf of the whole nation, we are grateful for your service and your sacrifice. You truly are the embodiment of the spirt of the UAE."
Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, on his part said: "The UAE celebrates with pride and honour the courage and sacrifice of the heroes of our armed forces. The nation is grateful for their distinguished participation in the Arab coalition in Yemen."
