Sharjah Police on Thursday celebrated a special achievement: They bid farewell to their last printer. All services in their police stations across the emirate are now 100 per cent digital.
This last printer been part of several work processes for quite some time, so finally discarding it marked a key milestone in the force's digital transformation, which would further raise the quality and efficiency of police work in the emirate.
Col Yusef Obaid bin Harmol, director of the police stations department at the Sharjah Police, said they are committed to improving their services by going digital, in line with the goals set by the Ministry of Interior.
Col Bin Harmol said they have been working with their electronic services department to put their innovation strategies into action.
The police started their smart transformation by digitising all administrative work, saving staff time and effort in completing their tasks, the officer said.
Then, they moved on to the second stage, where paper was completely eliminated in the services they provide. Recording criminal cases, among other documents, all turned digital.
"Taking this step is part of our commitment to ensuring customer happiness and satisfaction and protecting the environment. It also allows us to save on operational costs, part of which used to go to buying reams of paper and ink," Col Bin Harmol said.
