Recently elected FNC members vow to serve the people in UAE
A total of 117,592 voters out of the 337, 738 citizens who were eligible for voting participated in the elections.
Fresh from their win, newly elected members of the Federal National Council (FNC) vowed to deliver on their campaign promises and take up the interest of the people in the parliament.
Sharjah winners Adnan Hamad Al Hamadi, Humaid Ali Al Abaar Al Shamsi and Obaid Khalfan Al Ghoul thanked their supporters, as well as the National Election Committee that facilitated the success of the elections.
"I had a feeling that I would win but, still I was very excited to hear the announcement. Many people voted for me because they believed in my ability to serve them and the nation," said Humaid Ali Al Abaar Al Shamsi, the first winner who was announced in Sharjah.
"I will devote all my time and effort to serve people's interests in the FNC and fight for their needs," he added.
Adnan Hamad Al Hamadi, the second winner from Sharjah, celebrated his success but said the victory comes with a huge responsibility.
"It takes a lot of hard work to serve the people and the nation. I will carry this heavy load - the trust of the citizens who voted for me - on my shoulders and do my best," said Al Hamadi.
"Right from the moment I received the news, I immediately felt the responsibility to support the people of Sharjah," he added.
Obaid Khalfan Al Ghoul, another winner in the emirate, expressed his happiness and thanked all those who trusted him.
"I will work hard to serve the people and contribute to the country's development," Al Ghoul said.
Celebrations in the Capital
In Abu Dhabi, new FNC member Naema Al Mansouri said she was happy that people entrusted her with the leadership.
"The voters have put confidence in me and I am sure I will present their views to the house and to the government," she told Khaleej Times after being announced the winner at Adnec.
"It has been such a stiff competition but, thank God, I won. I promise to represent my people with due diligence."
Saeed Al Faali - who represented his brother, Suhail, at the elections - said he was happy his brother won a seat.
"This is a great day for our family. My brother knows the needs of our community well and I am confident the voters have made a good choice," he said.
