The UAE and the Arabian Peninsula will witness three eclipses - two lunar and one solar - in 2019, said Ibrahim al-Jarwan, a researcher in astronomy and meteorology, who is also a member of the Arab Union for Space and Astronomy Sciences.
According to a report in Al Bayan, on January 21, the region will have a chance to see total lunar eclipse.
It would experience a partial lunar eclipse (65%) on July 2. This celestial spectacle will be visible by midnight.
On December 26, 2019, the region will witness total solar eclipse, when the moon will block 97 per cent of the sun, turning day into night. The rare event will start at 02:29 and end by 08:05 (Universal Time).
On January 6, 2019, the first solar eclipse of the year would be partial, when the moon will block around 71 per cent portion of the sun. However, this won't be visible in the region.
