A robotic gazelle, designed to boost the upcoming Saluki Championship, was introduced by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre (HHC) at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex).
Salukis or greyhounds are Bedouin hunting dogs that can run up to 65kmph and were used to hunt rabbits and gazelles in the olden days.
Now, saluki racing has become a heritage sport organised annually in Dubai. At the race, barking and snarling Salukis chase artificial gazelles to test their stamina, speed and hunting capabilities.
Meanwhile, the HHC has opened the registration for the next camel trek. Hind Bin Demaithan Al Qemzi, director of events at HHC, said: "The Camel Trek is an event that has enjoyed a wide popularity among residents and nationals. The journey connects them with nature, in addition to developing ties of friendship."
