Dh100 million Ramadan package announced for UAE expats

Dubai's Beit Al Khair Society has announced a grand package for foreign nationals this Ramadan.

The charity organisation is set to spend Dh100 million on vulnerable people of foreign nationalities, as part of its new three-month campaign for the holy month of Ramadan this year.

The drive, themed: "And Do Good that You May Succeed", aims to reach out to thousands of low-income families and vulnerable people nationwide in the Year of Tolerance.
 
The Society, which spent Dh73,144,799 on 36,920 vulnerable families in Ramadan last year, is to run an array of charity programs and projects, to meet the needs of eligible families, improve their standards of living and bring them happiness.
 
On top of these schemes is the "Farha/Joy" program; an added value to regular projects that include Ramadan Meer (foodstuff packages), Mass Iftar, Zakat Al Fitr, as well as the Eidiya/Feast Gift and new clothes during Eid Al Fitr.
 
Abdeen Taher Al Awadhi, Director General, Beit Al Khair Society, said the three-month drive, to start in month of Rajab, is to end on the first day of Eid Al Fitr. "All vulnerable people, be they Emiratis or expats, can have access to the same."
 
The latest verified records show that Beit Al Khair is now supporting over 50,000 vulnerable families and cases.
 
"These include 4,324 families receiving monthly cash allowances, 13,853 indigent students, 1,735 orphans, along with thousands of destitute widows, defaulters, patients, senior citizens, and people of determination."
 
Al Awadhi urged all strategic partners and philanthropists to be part of this campaign as was over years and bring happiness to targeted people this Ramadan.
 
"With your magnificent support, Beit Al Khair managed to meet the needs of deprived people spending Dh73.1 million on some 50,000 eligible families last year," he said. "We hope to do the same this year as well."
 
The Society, specialised in local charity work only, pledges to give priority to disadvantaged Emirati families, but also offers support to all nationalities across the country, he underlined.
 
"Hundreds of thousands of Iftar meals are to be distributed for free at several Ramadan tents, mosques and labour camps, and on the roads."
 
Beit Al Khair distributed 511,815 healthy meals at 40 tents and distribution points last Ramadan, as per the latest official figures, he disclosed.
 
"The Society, in view of the Year of Tolerance, is to give more attention to all nationalities with a number of initiatives aimed to bring them happiness as urged in Islam, though."
