Elsewhere at the Jumeirah Beach Residence, tourists were treated to two sets of fireworks simultaneously - at The Beach and on Bluewaters Island. The Global Village saw seven firework shows from 8pm to 1am.
Ras Al Khaimah stepped into the New Year with two world records: Longest chain of fireworks and longest straight line of fireworks.
Abu Dhabi rang in 2019 with a spectacular 10-minute long pyrotechnic show, lighting up the skyline over the corniche. Six tonnes of gunpowder and 30,000 shots were used to put on the spectacle.
In Sharjah, splashes of gold, shapes of hearts and stars slowly built up to an explosion of green, red and blue colours that lit up the sky.
