Dar Al Ber Society has started the 'Year of Zayed' with the 'Happiness Souq', the first of its kind in the country, at the Zabeel public park in collaboration with a number of partners and traders across the country.
The pioneering gathering was decorated with a chart displaying the words 'Thank You, Mohamed bin Zayed' under which visitors to the charity souq can express their thanks to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
This is in response to the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to show appreciation to this great leader and his dedication to the nation.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, executive director of Dar Al Ber, said the charity souq showcases 50 diverse shops of emerging, local, regional and international brands and companies.
"It is aimed to support charitable projects and humanitarian cases locally and abroad."
The revenues of the souq are directed to vulnerable segments of the society and eligible humanitarian cases to ease their suffering, meet their needs, and bring them happiness, he added.
"The Happiness Souq reflects Dar Al Ber's 'happiness strategy," he said. "Emerging companies have been given an opportunity to chip in and promote their products, and support the charity sector in the country and abroad."
Hisham Al Zahrani, deputy head of community service sector at Dar Al Ber, said the souq displays an array of goods and products, including foodstuff, clothes, accessories, books, toys, and electronics.
"These are apart from eateries, kids play areas, free medical check-ups, and gifts that are distributed along the day."
Khalid Al Tamimi, media advisor, Dar Al Ber, said that visitors can have access to the souq from Gate-1 of the Zabeel public park.
"This is the easiest route to the souq which started on January 12, while it is open on Friday from 4pm to 10pm."
