Emirati woman injured in UAE house fire

Ras Al Khaimah - The bedroom where the woman was sleeping was totally destroyed.

An Emirati woman sustained injuries and burns after fire broke out in her house in Khuzam area in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
Sources at the RAK Civil Defence said that they were alerted about the blaze late Monday night.
"Firefighters and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site."
The bedroom where the woman was sleeping was totally destroyed, while the entire house was filled with smoke, they added.
"The firefighters cordoned off the house, and evacuated those nearby. Water and foam were used in putting out the blaze."
Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause behind the incident, they said.
"The fire could have erupted due to a short circuit in the air conditioner in the woman's bedroom."
Special devices were also used in sucking out the accumulated smoke, they added.
The fire file has been referred to the bodies concerned for further investigation.
They called upon the people to ensure all electric devices are checked and maintained on a regular basis to avoid any short circuits and fires.
"A number of fire incidents reported recently have been blamed on poor quality of electric supplies and ill-maintained gadgets."
