A 30-year-old Indian worker fell down while carrying out maintenance job in an under-construction building in Al Mamzar area in Sharjah. He sustained severe head injuries and was admitted in the ICU of Al Qasimi Hospital.
The man - identified as Mahindra Kumar  - works for a contracting company based in Sharjah.
Eyewitness and co-workers told the cops that the injured man was busy in his maintenance work when all of a sudden, he fell down on the floor. Some colleagues suspected that it was an attempted suicide.
Police said that at 9am, they received a call at the operation room. A team reached the site where they found the worker in a pool of blood. The injured was rushed to Al Qasimi Hospital.
Police have initiated an intensified investigation to find out the cause of the accident and to ensure that the company was implementing safety procedures to protect workers.
