His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has chronicled his love for horses in a unique book aptly titled 'For the Love of Horses'. The book, which was launched on Tuesday by the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO), features a collection of 18 poems in Arabic and English that celebrate Sheikh Mohammed's passion for horses.

The book has been launched ahead of the Dubai World Cup, the world's richest race day with a total prize money of $35 million. Poets, writers and media personalities attending the 2019 Arab Media Forum and guests of the Dubai World Cup were present at the launch event.


A gallery of masterpieces by Emirati artists was on display at Meydan for the launch of For the Love of Horses, a new collection of 18 poems written by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in Arabic and English. His poems celebrate his life-long passion for horses. Poets, writers and media personalities attending the 2019 Arab Media Forum and guests of the Dubai World Cup were among those present at the event. Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Sciences, recited some of the poems from the new collection. She also shared her experience of working with Sheikh Mohammed and the lessons she learned from him. Sultan Al Amimi, Director of the Poetry Academy of the Cultural Programmes and Heritage Festivals Committee - Abu Dhabi, shared his insights into the deep relationship with horses as expressed in his poems. An equestrian-themed art exhibition was held on the sidelines of the event.


Director General of the GDMO, Mona Ghanem Al Marri, said the book captures Sheikh Mohammed's outlook on life and "his noble vision". "Sheikh Mohammed is a global figure whose leadership has led to the UAE emerging as a leading country in the world. The poems in the book speak about the deep love and passion that Sheikh Mohammed has had for horses from an early age and how this has influenced his life's journey."

Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman and CEO of the Meydan Group - which hosted the launch event - said: "Sheikh Mohammed is a towering personality in the worldwide equestrian fraternity who has contributed significantly to the development of the global industry."
