His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has offered condolences to "our beloved people in Lebanon" after a huge explosion near the centre of Beirut killed at least 10 people.

He posted a moving message on Twitter, praying to God to give patience and solace to the people of Lebanon.
The UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, also offered his condolences by posting a small prayer to "protect the Lebanese" and "heal their wounds".
The blast shattered glass in people's homes and caused apartment balconies to collapse, agencies quoted witnesses and security sources as saying.
Footage of the blast shared by residents on social media showed a mushroom cloud rising from the city's port area after the blast. Those filming what initially appeared to be a big blaze were thrown backwards by the impact of the explosion.
