The nearly 10 million Twitter followers of the Dubai Ruler were recipients of a frontally honest and forthright message from him on Sunday. The Arab world is facing a "management crisis", His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, tweeted. "There is no power crisis, education crisis or health crisis in the  Arab region. We rather have a management crisis."
He said the nation has "great resources" and "great potential". "However, we lack the right one to manage these resources and potential to make a great nation," he said.
His message was simple, but powerful: We have the potential, but lack the right people to deliver. Sheikh Mohammed's call for the best of the best at all levels will resonate in the region where the right leadership in the right places can produce so much more public good.
The Dubai Ruler is known for sending mystery shoppers to government institutions and random spot checks to assess performance. Earlier this year, he shared a photo of long queues at a branch of Emirates Post and publicly reprimanded the government agency over poor services.
