The Abu Dhabi Municipality has suspended all the projects of the contractor, consultant and subcontractor involved in the crane collapse incident at an under-construction building, that crushed several cars parked nearby.
The municipality said the contractor, consultant and subcontractor had direct responsibility and their suspension will continue until further notice.
The municipality is also working closely with the Abu Dhabi Police to prepare the final report of the investigation and take legal action against the entities.
The municipality, through the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Department, urged all consulting offices, contractors and developers to strictly adhere to the safety standards and requirements at construction sites. Safety of workers and community members is one of the top priorities during construction work, the municipality said.
Dr Huda Al Salmi, director of the EHS Department said following the probe, it was confirmed that the project's main contractor must take onus for the accident.
The main contractor must supervise all the requirements for loading and unloading, and not rely on the subcontractor to carry out the work by signing a contract between the two parties only, Al Salmi said.
The main contractor must ensure that contracting companies carry out work properly and prevent occurrence of any incident at the  site and ensure the safety of workers.
The municipality stressed the importance of complying with the EHS Policy, which aims to achieve excellence in the management and protection of the environment, health and safety, through cooperation between all government and private sectors.
It was on Wednesday that a mobile crane was lifting a tower crane at a construction site in Tourist Club area. The tower crane collapsed onto the cars parked near the area.
