The UAE's theme for the next year - '2020: Towards the next 50 years' - would propel the country further up in the top league of nations, experts and businessmen have said. This theme would help the country focus more on new-age technologies; further develop highly-advanced infrastructure; and reduce dependence on petro-dollars. They also said art and culture would flourish.
Osama Al Rahma, vice-chairman of Foreign Exchange Remittances Group (Ferg) and the CEO of Al Fardan Exchange, said the theme affirms the vision of the UAE's unique leadership in setting up a great future.
"This vision is supported by a clear plan and strategies. This will be continuation of the success that has been achieved so far and will also place the UAE as one of the top players in the region and also at the global level. The country will remain a land of dreams for everybody who wants to create a better future for mankind," Al Rahma said.
Kamal Vachani, group director, Al Maya Group, said the year 2019 marked as the 'Year of Tolerance' achieved remarkable progress. "The whole world is talking about the UAE's initiatives about tolerance. The next 50 years are going to take this great country even further in terms of infrastructure development, building latest-design shopping destinations and iconic structures."
Vachani said the upcoming mega event Expo 2020 will also be a game changer not just during the event period but much beyond that. He said the expo site would be transformed into a historical one that will attract a large number of visitors.
Dr Atul Aundhekar, group CEO of Avivo, said: "I am confident that the UAE will not only lead the GCC for excellence in healthcare but will also be the brand ambassador of healthcare information and artificial intelligence, block chain and digital revolution in Asia and worldwide."
Shailesh Dash, an entrepreneur and financier, hailed the initiative and vision of the UAE's leaders. "The kind of foundation and infrastructure provided is capable of holding, sustaining and promising the growth impetus for all the sectors across industries to come out with a robust and vibrant plan of innovation, sustenance, delivery and excellence."
Alan James Gammon, general manager for Samana Group, said the UAE's leaders challenge the norm and encourage innovation, while respecting tradition and family values. "A seafaring nation that has embraced the world has evolved into the nation it is today. It is a bright light that recognises and embraces an entrepreneurial spirit to be the best the world has to offer. I have no doubt that the UAE, under this vision, will flourish economically and socially," Gammon said.
