Authorities urged all parents to keep an eye on their kids, particularly during the holidays.

A 14-year-old Emirati girl was riding her bike close to her home in Ras Al Khaimah city when she met with an accident that got her hand entirely cut off.

Informed sources said the accident happened on Friday at 2pm. The young girl was rushed to Saqr hospital, but she had to be airlifted to another hospital where she can possibly get her hand reattached.

"Her amputated hand was kept in ice to remain safe in the hospital," sources said.

Authorities urged all parents to keep an eye on their kids, particularly during the holidays.

"Kids should be careful and take all precautionary measure when riding bikes."

Wearing helmet and protective clothes are important, for example, they explained.

"Bike hiring outlets should also make sure these safety measures are taken."
