Woman jumps off bridge on highway in UAE, gets hit by speeding car

Sharjah - The driver was unable to respond in time and hit the woman.

A 38-year-old Asian woman committed suicide after jumping off a bridge on the Dhaid-Sharjah highway in UAE.

At 7.43pm on Saturday, the operations room of Sharjah Police was informed about the incident of a woman who had jumped off the bridge, and was rammed by a vehicle after its driver was startled to see the woman on the road, and was unable to respond in time.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Ambulance, civil defence and other emergency teams were dispatched to the site, Sharjah Police said on their official Instagram account.

Initial examination of the body indicated that the woman had jumped off the bridge, which caused her death, Brigadier General Mohammed Rashid Bayat, Director of Police Operations, said.

The body has been taken to the forensic laboratory for a detailed analysis, and an investigation is on.
