A damaged water pipe flooded a Sharjah road on Sunday, according to a statement issued by authorities.
According to a statement issued by the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa), the leakage was caused during maintenance work by Sewa on Wasit Street.
The waterlogged road was closed from Wasit Squire towards Shaikh Saud Al Qasimi road - causing traffic congestion on the road.
The breakdown of the main water pipe also disrupted water supply to residents in the area.

In a statement issued by the Sharjah Police, the leakage occurred in the morning at 9 am when motorists called them and Sewa to complain about the clogged road.
The patrol team rushed to the area and closed the road so that the Sewa maintenance team could fix the damaged pipe. Police patrols diverted the traffic to alternative roads in the area.
A Sharjah Municipality official said that they were notified about the burst water pipe - after which an emergency team were immediately notified and dispatched to the site.
Water pumping machines and water tanks were sent to the site to pump out the water to prevent waterlogging that could affect traffic movement on that vital road.
The team are currently carrying the work which will be completed in few hours to allow smooth flow of traffic.
Isam Al Mulla, Director of Water Department at Sewa, said that they had received complaint about the breakdown of the 600 millimeter pipe, which affected by maintenance work on the street.
A technical team immediately rushed to the site and contained the water leakage in a short time, he claimed.
Sewa coordinated with municipality and police to manage the traffic and pump out the leaked water to facilitate the fixing process.
The pipe had been fixed, water was pumped out and supply had been restored in the area.
Jamal Al Shamali, a resident of Wasit area said his wife called him to notify him about the water being disconnected - so we had to buy water until the issue was resolved.? ?
Another resident, Mona Al Serkal, said that the disconnected supply was restored within four hours at her house.
