A young Arab man has been honoured by the Sharjah Civil Defence for rescuing an 11-year-old girl from the fire that teared through Abbco Tower in Sharjah's Al Nahda area.
When Mohammed Omar heard cries and screams of help coming from a locked apartment while the blaze raged, he broke open its door and found a small distraught girl left alone in the room. He swiftly carried her to safety out of the building and continued to pacify her.

On its official Instagram account, the civil defence said that Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, director-general of Sharjah Civil Defence, has honoured the Saudi man Mohammed Omar for rescuing the 11-year-old girl, who couldn't leave her first floor apartment amid the blaze.
Al Naqbi heaped praises on Omar for his heroic act that saved the girl's life.
