UAE: 8 lost trekkers rescued after officer's 9-hour search operation
Yusuf Al Habsi located the trekkers at 1am on Saturday.
Yusuf Al Habsi, a non-commissioned officer with the Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defence, has rescued eight trekkers trapped on a mountain in Wadi Naqb.
Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, Director of the Civil Defence Department, RAK, said Al Habsi was on duty when they were alerted about the trekkers who got lost.
“We sought Al Habsi's help because he is basically a mountaineer, and is an expert in such rough mountainous areas.”
Al Habsi immediately rushed to help, and started his nine-hour search and rescue mission at 4pm on Friday.
"He managed to locate them in the dark at 1am," Brig Al Zaabi said.
He stayed with them till sunrise, before guiding them back to safety.
