A fire broke out at the iconic Sharjah Central souq on Thursday, according to a statement issued by the municipality. The fire was brought under control without any injuries.
Sharjah City Municipality said that a small fire that erupted in one of the food and beverage outlets inside the Central souq was brought under control in record time.
The municipality asserts that the small fire was controlled in cooperation with the firefighting teams of the Civil Defence in Sharjah. Shoppers and shop owners were evacuated immediately via all market exits.
According to a statement issued by Sharjah Police, the cafeteria fire was reported at around 3.15pm on Thursday. Firefighters were able to control the fire within 15 minutes, without any injuries.

The civil defence teams carried out the cooling operation after the fire was put out, with the site of the fire being temporarily closed in order to carry out cleaning and ventilation operations before re-opening it again to the public on Friday.
