A 29-year-old Pakistani man, his wife and sister died after the car they were travelling in was rammed by another vehicle on Dubai-Al Ain Road on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Fayaz Mohammed, his wife Fayza and sister Shamim. The couple's youngest son, Mutaar Mohammed Fayaz, survived the horrific accident.
Fayaz had stopped his car in the middle of the road after it met with a minor mishap. He even called his sponsor to tell him about the situation. Minutes after making the call, a four-wheel vehicle being driven by a GCC national crashed into his car, killing Fayaz and the two female occupants.
Colonel Saeed Al Khaili, director of Al Faqaa Police Station, said the accident took place at 8.45pm on Saturday on the Dubai-Al Ain Road after the Al Lasili Bridge towards Al Ain.
He said that the Pakistani driver committed a mistake as he didn't pull over to the side of the highway after being involved in a minor accident. The vehicle was parked in the middle of the road and the man driving the 4WD didn't pay attention to it. "Due to the collision, the small car of the Pakistani victim was thrown off the road, causing fatal injuries to the man, his wife and sister."
The police rushed the boy, who sustained minor injuries, to the hospital.
During the police investigation, the GCC national admitted that he was not attentive while driving when the accident occurred.
The sponsor of the deceased told the police that Fayaz had called to inform him of a minor accident on the Dubai-Al Ain Road. He told him that he was inspecting the damage. When the sponsor called the man later to get an update, he didn't answer. He then called the police who found out about the collision that had claimed three lives.
The family received the death certificates and the bodies will be handed over to relatives after completion of legal and administrative procedures.
