The impact of the collision was so huge that the elderly man died on the spot.

A 75-year-old Emirati man, who was driving his 14-year-old daughter to school, died after collision with another vehicle in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday morning.

The teenage girl and the 20-year-old Emirati driver of the other car involved in the accident sustained minor injuries, said Colonel Ahmad Al Sam Al Naqbi, director of traffic and patrols department, RAK Police.

The impact of the collision was so huge that the elderly man died on the spot, he added.

On being alerted of the accident at 7.40pm, the central operations room of the RAK Police, rushed traffic patrols, national ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site.

"Drivers need to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations, mainly at crowded areas and close to schools."

Seat belts prove to be critical in saving driver and passengers' life. Drivers should also stay focused on the road and never get distracted, he said.

The body of the deceased was shifted to the morgue of the hospital for burial by relatives. The victim's daughter and the driver of the other car were shifted to the hospital.
