A 21-year-old Emirati man was killed after the car he was driving rammed into a heavy truck on Tawain Road in Sarm area in the emirate of Fujairah on Wednesday evening.
A video showing the heavy truck, involved in the crash, went viral on social media.
Col Saleh Al Dhankhani, director of traffic and patrols department, Fujairah, said after being alerted about the accident, the central operations room of the Fujairah Police dispatched traffic patrols, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the reported site.
“The Emirati driver of the private car sustained serious injuries and was declared dead before being shifted to the hospital.”
The driver of the heavy truck, who was also injured, was administered first aid, and shifted to the nearest hospital, he pointed out.
“All drivers are urged to strictly observe traffic rules and regulations, particularly speed limit on both internal and external roads, and remain attentive on the steering wheel.”
