UAE students are feeling the nerves as they anxiously wait to see the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Grade 10 exam results that are being released today.

CBSE chief Anil Swarup confirmed that the results will be out today around 4pm India time. Khaleej Times spoke to some of the students who took the exam and many of them are hopeful that they will become toppers.

Yusuf Arshad Pathan, a student at Leaders Private School in Sharjah, said he made a few blunders in the exam, but, is still hoping he is a topper.

"All of that anxiousness and nerves are being overshadowed by the excitement of what the results will be. We have worked 10 years of our lives for this, so we are excited to see what the turnout will be," he said.

"I studied very hard for the exam. My weekends turned into working days and my studying time would be from morning until night. I sacrificed the time with my friends and other events to study instead, so that's why I'm definitely excited to see what the results will be. I also would like to thank all the efforts of my teachers and mentors, especially my vice-principal who kept encouraging me. My teachers kept guiding me every step of the way till the very last."

Another student at the Leaders Private School in Sharjah, Aditiya Umesh, said he has done well on the exams.

Umesh started preparing one month before the exam.

"I am waiting to see the results and I'm sure I have done well. I don't think I will be a topper, but, I do still hope that I am. My preparations for the exam went well and my teachers really helped me," he said.

Praful Shivprasad, a student at the Millennium School, believes he will score a 90 to 95 per cent.

He thanked his school for preparing him for the exams throughout the school year.

"They prepared us really well in the school. We had constant tests since the beginning of the year and they helped us improve in areas we lacked in. I don't think I will be a topper but I will receive 90 or 95 per cent," Shivprasad said.

A parent of a student who has cerebral palsy said she is especially proud of her son for completing the CBSE exam.

Meeti, the mother of Pulkit Chopra - a student at the Millennium School, said: "The school has prepared him and they guided him. He gave it his best shot and now we just have to wait and see. It's a dream come true for a parent who has a child with special needs to see him do the CBSE exam. I'm very proud of him and he has put a lot of effort into this." sarwat@khaleejtimes.com
