The UAE's Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) on Monday revised the list of applications available to support distance learning programme in the country in coordination with local telecom operators.

The additional set of applications are Cisco Webex, Avaya Spaces, BlueJeans and Slack. These apps are available on all of the UAE's networks on an exceptional basis and until further notice, the regulator said in a statement.

The other applications that continue to remain available for distance learning in the UAE are Google Hangouts Meet, Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, Zoom and Blackboard. TRA said it will review and update the list of available applications from time to time.

Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, educational institutions in the UAE have gone online for the safety of students, teachers and employees. Some schools had started rolling out distance learning from March 22 while others started a week later.

TRA had earlier said that the two telecom services providers in the country will provide free internet data via mobile phones to families who don't have internet at home in order to facilitate their access to a distance learning services launched by the Ministry of Education.
