A 22-year-old worker allegedly stabbed his countryman four times, in a moment of rage following a brawl, the Court of First Instance was told.
The Pakistani worker became mad when the victim, his supervisor, allegedly sexually harassed him, prompting him to stab him four times. However, he then sat next to him weeping and telling the bleeding victim he was sorry for stabbing him.
He denied a premeditated murder charge in court claiming he did not mean to kill the victim. "He attacked me first and I was defending myself," he claimed.
However, during investigation, the accused recounted the victim had called him around 11pm on the incident day. "I was walking near the accommodation in Al Quoz when the victim called me. He wanted me to meet him in the parking lot, expressing his sexual desires towards me. As I turned his invitation down, he said no matter what I did I should still see him in the accommodation. He also insulted and threatened to hurt me," the accused told the prosecutor.
"On my way, I could not help being angry and stopped at a supermarket and bought a knife."
When the victim saw the defendant later in the car park, he allegedly slapped him and before he could drag him to do what he had solicited before, the defendant stabbed him several times in the abdomen and chest.
The victim walked some steps and then collapsed.
The accused then sat next to him telling him how sorry he was and cried.
When the police arrived, the accused told them the victim had been forcing him to have sex with him since his arrival to the country about one year back. "He was my supervisor as I worked in pipe installation and he would always threaten to fire me and get me deported."
A police sergeant said he was patrolling the same area in Al Quoz on September 15 when he spotted a crowd of workers. "The defendant was there and he tried to run away and hide in the bus zone but I caught him and took him inside the police car. He looked scared and his clothes were stained with blood. The victim was lying down in a pool of blood. He was still alive but he died in the ambulance on his way to hospital."
A report from the general directorate of criminal evidence, including 25 photos of the defendant re-enacting how he committed the murder, is part of public prosecution evidence.
Instant inspection of the accused after the murder showed his clothes and shoes were covered with victim's blood.
The crime weapon was seized.
The severe internal bleeding and deep ruptures in the lungs, liver and intestine were the cause of victim's death, according to the forensic report.
