A gang of three who lured a teenager from her home country to prostitute her in Dubai has been charged with human trafficking and running a brothel. Another Pakistani woman, 25, faces a prostitution charge.
Two men, ages 38 and 32, and a woman, 27, lured the 15-year-old victim with the promise of a job as a dancer.
The 32-year-old defendant had drawn up paperwork allowing the teenager to come to Dubai after discussing the matter with her stepfather.
"Two men picked me up from Dubai airport and took me to a flat in Naif on December 6, last year. The next day, they took me to another flat in Freej Murar where there were several women. I was told I will be prostituted,?" the  teenaged girl said.
"The female defendant threatened to prevent me contacting my parents or going home. She also said that I would have to pay them Dh1,800 for travel costs. I had no other choice but to work for them."
After police received a tip off regarding the flat, they discovered that "persons involved in the (prostitution) ring stayed in another flat in the same building".
"We sent an undercover police officer who acted like a customer looking for sex. We raided the flat on January 28 shortly thereafter. It was one room divided by curtains. The victim told us that her real age was changed on her passport by her stepfather," the officer said.
The court will reconvene on June 7.
