The Ajman Police arrested three Comoro Islands nationals who murdered two Emiratis during a group clash on Sheikh Zayed Road in Ajman. The violence also caused injuries to two people from the Comoro Islands. The suspects were nabbed in less than 12 hours of the crime.
Col Abdullah Saif Al Matrouhsi, director of police operations, said that they received a call informing them about the fighting on Sheikh Zayed Road (towards Umm Al Quwain).
A police team - including a patrol, CID sleuths and crime scene officers - reached the site where they found the body of a 22-year-old Emirati, identified as GYH, who was run over by a car while trying to cross the road to escape the violence. Some meters away, the police also spotted the body of another 26-year-old Emirati, who was knifed to death.
He added that the police rushed SKR, a 30-year-old man from Comoro Islands, to Khalifa Hospital as he was found on the site with serious injuries resulting from the clash.
The Ajman Police, in coordination with their Umm Al Quwain counterparts, intensified investigation and arrested the three suspects who killed the two Emiratis. The suspects included AH (aged 18 years), YMK (26) and MHM (30). It was found that the trio had criminal records in various police stations in the northern Emirates. They confessed to their crime and the case has now been referred to the public prosecution.
Praising the police officers for their swift action, Col Al Matroushi pointed out that the cops identified the suspects and arrested them in less than 12 hours from the time of the incident.
He urged the public to immediately report any kind of illegal act or crime that they might encounter. The police will have zero tolerance against those who try to endanger the security of the county and its people as well as the residents, he added.
