The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance heard that the Emirati man was arrested a few months ago as he tried to sell the drugs to a police undercover agent.
Police received information that the man had smuggled a large amount of hashish and psychotropic substances into the country with the help of another person.
A police undercover agent contacted the dealer on phone and he allegedly accepted to sell him 20kg of hashish.
They agreed on a meeting place but before the execution of the deal, the man changed the plans and said he will instead deliver the drugs through a mediator.
Instead of the earlier agreed 20kg hashish, the man said he would only give him 19kg.
The police team arrested the dealer after getting permission from the public prosecution.
Police searched the man's house and seized a huge amounts of drugs, including hashish and tramadol.
Prosecutors charged him with smuggling and dealing in drugs. He denied the charges in court.
The trial was adjourned until October 29.
