A man in Sharjah has been accused of insulting and slandering a woman on WhatsApp.
In his statement to the defence, the Arab national claimed he had no idea who the GCC woman was prior to the case, as per Al Bayan report.
He stated that it had been nearly three months since he used his old phone number, as he had bought another phone line with a new WhatsApp account.
He argued that someone framed him by hacking into his account and began attacking the woman.
The man's estranged wife was most likely behind the incident, the lawyer stated, as they were on bad terms and were seeking separation.
The Sharjah Court of Misdemeanors postponed the case to May 13, pending a special report from Etisalat which could verify the defendant's claim.
