Four Bangladeshis, including a 30-year-old woman, faced a human trafficking charge at the Court of First Instance as they are accused of luring a 16-year-old compatriot to travel to Dubai and forcing her into prostitution.
According to public prosecution records, the defendants, aged between 30 and 42, lured the victim to travel to Dubai after getting a passport with false age.
She was picked up at Dubai International Airport and then taken to a flat in Al Muhaisnah where she was made to work as a prostitute. Two of the defendants are also accused of running a prostitution den and exploiting women in the flesh trade. One of them is accused of having illicit sex with the female defendant while the latter is charged with working in prostitution.
The arrests were made on May 14 in Al Qusais.
The teenager told the investigators that the female defendant sent her money to get a passport while instructing her to pretend she was older to be able to get an entry permit to the UAE. "I arrived on May 3 and a man picked me up at Dubai International Airport. I was taken a few days later to a flat where I was forced under intimidation to have paid sex with men." Her visit visa and passport was also seized by those people, she claimed.
On May 14, the CID officers raided the flat and arrested the defendants and two other Asian women prostitutes.
The girl was then referred to the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.
A police lieutenant said the case unfolded when they were tipped off about an underage girl being made to work in prostitution. "We located the building, and as one of our undercover officers posed as a customer, a suspect let him inside the flat and showed him the women to choose from. We raided the place after the suspect collected a Dh100 bill (that belonged to the police) from the undercover officer."
The flat was found to be partitioned in a way to be run as a prostitution den.
The trial will continue on September 3.
